"ran engine this spring with no problem.
boat sat for 2 months, then would not run over 2K rpm without dieing. replaces separator, filters, etc. now runs up to 3K rpm. I reset timing to book spec and cleaned carb inside-out. now will not run full throttle past 3K rpm, but has run at 4K in past."

Does the engine overheat? Can

Does the engine overheat? Can you lay your hand on the riser for 10-20 secs.? Check for a mouse nest in the exhaust or damaged exhaust shutter.
