Low reverse speed 50 Hp Mecury OB

When putting the boat into reverse there is little power, almost like it is running at idle speed. Can be difficult to go backwards at all, with strong river current. Is there any way to adjust throttle when in reverse. 1990-91, 50 Hp Mercury OB. No issues engaging forward, Neutral, or reverse other then a lack of much needed power.

Try readjusting the throttle cable to get more out of reverse (and less in forward).

Looked into that before my post. I had the cover off it appeared there was not an attachment to adjust the throttle in reverse. Can see the adjustments on the throttle cable when adjusting throttle in drive. see it disengage in Neutral, but nothing ion the throttle in reverse. Only adjustment that i know i can make is to increase the throttle when idling.Doing so has no effect on reverse speed. Putting motor into gear reduced the idle speed. Will need to look at an online manual, being this is my first time dealing with an OB motor.
