Low pressure fuel pump suzuki

I was loosing prime on my 2019 40hp Suzuki. I changed the fuel filter and the low pressure fuel pump on the engine and it runs fine now but I have gas leaking out my exhaust. Any advice would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!

I can’t see the low pressure fuel pump being the cause of fuel in the exhaust. To be sure put the old fuel pump back on and see if the gas in the exhaust clears up. The low pressure fuel pump supplies the VST with fuel which in turns supplies the injectors. If an injector is stuck open then too much fuel will enter the combustion chamber but usually ends up in the oil sump. If the float in the VST is set wrong and allowing too much fuel in the excess fuel will end up in the oil sump. A faulty fuel pressure regulator could be allowing too much fuel but again the excess fuel should end up in the oil sump. A spark plug not firing would put excess fuel into the sump. Not sure how raw fuel would get to the exhaust without going through the oil sump on a fairly new engine. Check the oil level, pull each plug and compare them to each other, check the fuel pressure, drain the VST and catch the fuel in a clear container looking for water in the fuel. Sorry I can’t be more help, hopefully someone with more knowledge will chime in.
