Lost reverse gear in 1970 95 hp evinrude

i have just replaced the impel

i have just replaced the impeller in my motor.Now that i replaced the lower unit i have lost reverse gear it was there before i took it apart.The shift rod is fully seated in it's connection & the screw is tight as it will go.Can someone help me with this problem please...Warren

Sorry i took a while to respond, i just haven't had the time to work on the motor lately.I'm very grateful for your help..Warren..."

Could it also be that your shaft rotated during reassembly ? That has happened to me before and the slightest adjustment could make you have too much forward and not enough reverse.
