lost all electrical power

I was adjusting the idle on my1990 70 VRO Johnson. Had the cowl off hanging to the side. After I shut down-tried to restart and had nothing. No power anywhere-tilt/trim, gauges, ignition. Is there a fuse or link somewhere I might have disabled when I had the cowl hanging there? Read in another forum that there is a fuse on the rt side looking out the back of the boat on the engine.

There is a short 20 ampere power fuse that supplies voltage to the "Bat" terminal of the ignition switch. It is normally located a short distance from the starter solenoid.... in line with one of the smaller RED wires.

Thx for the replies--so this fuse could take out the entire electrical system as described?

That depends...... If your electrical system is routed from that "Bat" terminal of the ignition switch, then yes. Note that this setup is not a wise one as the fuse is designed specifically for the engine and to have everything electrical functioning off that one 20 ampere fuse is inviting a fuse blowout.

Look for a separate wiring either at the battery that would be fused OR a power wire leading from the battery to a fuse panel located elsewhere.

I just had the cowl off and didn't see anything that looks like a fuse on the left side near the solenoid. So back to square one again. I'll start down at the batteries and work to the selector switch. That was my first thought the problem was the selector switch-it reacts like it has been switched to the off or none position. No power going anywhere. The only other fuse box I'm aware of is tucked up under the dash. There are about 12 glass fuses located there. Maybe check all of those? Would all power be routed through one of them?
