"I have a 1990 Johnson 3 hp model 3BRESR that seems to run ok with no load, but loses power when in gear. At first the engine will run ok for a short time, but as it warms up the problem appears. I can keep the engine running if the throttle is kept at no more than a fist idle. Any more will stall the engine. Then suddenly the problem will clear, and it will run fine for a few seconds up to a couple of minutes; but then the problem reoccures. I have disassembled the carb. and blown out the ports and jet with compressed air (it seemed to be clean inside), checked the vent cap, replaced the spark plugs, and checked the sea water pump impeller (ok)., checked the fuel tank strainer, and replaced the fuel line. Nothing has resolved the problem I am beginning to wonder if the problem may be electrical instead of gas. Any suggestions would be appreciated. Thanks"
