"Please help. I have a Tiara 3

"Please help. I have a Tiara 3years ago it was repowered with a Crusaders 350(repower pack)5.7l.The firt year the boat runned excellent, the second season it started missfiring and losing power everytime I was going over 2200 rpms.after many trips to different boat shops the mechanic found one of the intake valves was bent. this problem was fixed and the carburator rebuilt. I have taken the boat out abot 3 or 4 time and now the engine is losing power everytime I run the engine over 2000rpms.sometimes the engine dies and sometimes it just looses power and it wants to regaine the power. this happens everytime within 30sec to 1min. I replace the distributor, all the filters etc. soo rebuilt cab, new distributor(electronic ignition) good sp cables rebuilt headsetc. (the out drive is a mercruser alpha one gen II)

"Think first I would take a few minutes to do a compression test with all plugs out and carb open.Just to get an idea where the engine is at.Then I would be checking the fuel filter in the carb again.Might be getting fuel, but only so much.Which then leads us to check the fuel pump.Did we check the timing yet?We should.This is where I would start...Todd"

I'll bet you have a restrictive fuel filter BEFORE the fuel pump. That's a no-no.

Hi. Jeff I don't know a restrictive what a restrictive fuel filter is or looks like? There is a filter before the right at the fuel pump. it is a cylinder about 2 or 3 inches long this has been replaced also. then before that there is the original mercruser water separator filter this has also been replaced I even added addives to the gas tank for boats. and filled the tank with fresh gasoline. when the filters were raplace the filter screens look yellowish but they were not clogg at all. any more advice will be allways apreciated thanks

"A few years back I had similiar symptoms with my Gibson 50 foot. My port engine (454 CID) would only turn about 1500 RPM then it would fall off. I could let it set for awhile and it would recover. To make a long story short, I found a crimp in the fuel line from the gas tank to the fuel pump. As the engine compartment warmed up the line would collapse. It was behind the engine so I didn't detect it for a while. Since then I have replumbed the fuel system to get all my fuel lines out and visible."

Try relocating all but the water separator to AFTER the fuel pump. And eyeball for any kincks in the lines, as Chuck suggested.
