"Hi, when I had my lower housing off to change my impeller I noticed some material in the exhaust port on the upper housing. It looked like stainless plate, 2 pieces. I tried to catch them with pliers but they fell back into the exhaust bellows. Any ideas what they might be?

"Hi, that sounds about right as I also noticed the water pocket was badly melted, which I have changed. What is likely to melt on the shutters to allow the metal parts to come loose? Can I survive without them? I have heard an engine manufacturer is no longer fitting them, although I can't remember who it was.
