The later model (for example) 1980 thru at least 1988 used that type PTT (outside ram setup), same type that is used on the 1974 V4 models.... Part number 172858. Worth looking into.

V-4 power trim / tilt with the external rams and pump was only used untill about 1978.------Then they went to the universal unit that fit many later models.---Tough item to find used in good condition.

I have one from a 1975 115. Tight cylinders, but the pump motor clicks out after about 10 seconds on the internal thermal relay. Has been doing this for about 10 yrs but still works. I got tired of it and put on a CMC.

how much you want for it

I'm thinking $200 + exact shipping. Incl power unit, cylinders, brackets, gauge, wiring, bolts. The only thing missing is the rocker switch, but can send the one from the CMC. Oil was changed yearly and the cylinders have been resealed but not recently, but no leaks. The bobbin on the trim cyl may need to be rewound. I will send you pictures from photobucket.

Hope to get comments if this not a fair price. You might check to see if the '75 will fit you '74

Not sure what you mean by the "bobbin on trim cylinder"???? 73 - 77 were all the same. as long as the cylinders are mounted "outside" the lower unit instead of inside it will work. it also needs to have what they call the wing, that attaches to motor and the top of the cylinders included. Late 77's went to the newer style with 2 trim and 1 tilt cylinder mounted "inside" swivel assembly

the price is fair if everything works. If the motor trips overloads I have seen the motors go from 50 used- 500 bucks new for the motor alone. gaurenteed perfect and working complete from 200 - 600 on ebay. cmc's used on craigslist from 250 up

The bobbin is a resistor of coiled wire around a plastic sleeve. A button in the cylinder provides an electrical contact to the trim gauge. it is a Prestolite unit. Never have opened the power unit, may it needs brushes.

The brush housing assemblies are no longer available and are rather pricey at new inventory overstock places. i can fix all myself but sounds like parts to fix are addin up quick. not lookin for something for nothing but 200 for possible anchor???????????

Don't get me wrong am not trying to dis what you have and REALLY appreciate this all, am just trying to decide between cmc and original equipment. Myself I would prefer good working (when I get done) original equipment. Plenty of people tell me I'm crazy for not rushing out for the cmc. I realize this type was on for 4 years and new style for 20+ because of problems but its original, and when working is better in my mind

Beauty of the early V-4 units is that the pump and oil reservoir can be mounted inside the boat and kept out of the elements.

I threw out a number, look at the pics when I get a chance to post them.
One thing, I found out about the cmc 130 was that it didn't have power to trim at past a plane and it was a new unit. Also, the tnt equipped engines do not have a catch to keep it from swinging up in reverse, I had to use bungies. I just thur out the brush as I have not opened the unit.
Maybe Raceone knows why it would trip the internal overload as the engine is a low hour unit and the lilt tube pivot is not binding.
I thought Sierria on this site has a replacement motor.
However, I understand the concern about sinking money in an older unit. Let me know what you think a fair price would be for you.

First time on this site. Did you get my return message? My location is Gainesville Florida zip code 32606. Do you have access to these units. My CMC broke down. I'm trying to put a Jack Plate on the motor also. They don't make a combo unit for my size motor. If I repair my CMC tilt and trim plus add the jack plate it will set too far back on my boat. I estimate it will lower the rear of the boat another 2 to 3 inches. I currently have 5 to 6 inches. Putting the factory tilt and trim plus the Jack Plate will work out.
