Mr Reeves thanks for your help on starter assembly spring I have another ? for you i have the sprring already it came with aband around it can i sit it in the housing then remove the band also do i need to grease the spring if so how much Thanks Chuck Saylor

I've never seen a spring with a band around it. I've always installed the spring as I mentioned previously. That's something you'll need to make a judgement call on.

"Joe, he is talking about the tie strap that they put on the recoil spring for packaging. You can clamp on the spring half way down with vice grips, then cut the tie strap, then simply place the recoil spring in the housing using the vice grips."
