Looking for advice on Volvo 290 Sterndrives

Good Morning All, I have just purchased a Sunseeker Mexico 24 Project. It has twin Volvo Penta 145A Petrol Engines and 290 Transom Shields, but no actual Sterndrives. I have found a few singles drives for sale (individually) is it possible to purchase 2 x drives from different boats and match them up as a pair to use on my boat, or do I need to find a matching pair? Also gearing wise do I ned to find Sterndrives that have come of a similar powered boat, ie Not off a V8 etc? any help or advice would be greatly appreciated

Yes,..... gear ratios must match the originals,......

Btw, this is the OMC forum, the Volvo forum is the next one up, on the main page,....
