looking for a good marine/mechanical surveyor

I have a pending contract on a boat (2000 29 Tiara Open w/ twin Crusader 454 MPIs) and would like some suggestions on good marine surveyors. I live in Wisconsin and the boat is located in Stuart, Florida so it is not possible for me to use anyone i am familiar with. I plan on being there when the survey is done but would still like someone i feel is competent and that i can trust. My broker has made recomendations but would still like more suggestions.

The ones affliated with SAMS have been reasonable - check marinesurvey.org and see if they have a member or two in Stuart (probably many). Interview a few on the phone and I you find a viable candidate, check the references. You can also check with the brokers in Stuart. Good ones take some effort to find, the bad ones reputation makes finding them pretty easy.
