I have run across a possible good deal on a Yahama 115 engine. The problem is that this engine was taken off a house boat more than a year ago, so I can't test run it.

What would be the best method to check this engine out without it being mounted on a boat (before buying it)? Can a boat shop do some kind of a test on it that will prove it's worthiness, or is this a chance I am going to have to take for getting a good deal???

I am familiar with Mercs. but I know nothing about Yahamas, are there any common problems with them???
