'look what came my way'

Well, hello everyone. I am posting this thread in hopes of finding these parts that I need. In my hands I have come into the possession of a 1978 Sebring bass boat. The motor is an Evinrude 150, model number 1 508 49 s. Serial number J 00 02 249. This engine looks to be in very good shape, lower unit looks good, body and casing even looks good. Unfortunately when I removed the top I found that all three carburetors were missing, the starter also. Part numbers are as follows: lower carburetor 0389 370, middle carburetor part number: 0389 363, top carburetor part number 0389 356. I have not found the part number for the starter yet, if anyone can help me with that, that also would be very appreciated. I guess my main dilemma is to decide whether the motor is worth fixing. The Sebring bass boat ,'78 model, will clean up very well. But the floor is a little soft. Clear coat looks as though its not coming off anywhere and paint job looks excellent. Boat trailer is in great shape also , could use a paint job. Anyone have any good ideas , I'm all ears ( and eyes ).

But the floor is a little soft.
The entire floor needs to come off and all of the flotation foam needs to be removed. Verify the transom and stringers are not rotted. You are looking at alot of work to fix rot. Boat wiring may be corroded. Parts have been removed from the engine usually means something major is wrong w/it...powerhead could be blown. Can you turn the engine by hand w/the spark plugs out? If you can then borrow a bore scope and look through the spark plug holes to see the condition of the pistons and cylinders. Otherwise pull the heads off and look. A 1978 150 hp may not be worth fooling with. Don't buy any parts until you can determine the engine's condition.

Alright I sure do appreciate the feedback. I will be doing some serious investigating here within the next few days. By chance if I do have to part this engine out are there any parts that are still possibly worth anything? It came with two props, one stainless steel and one regular. Engine has trim package can that be used on any size Evinrude motor? The engine also is bolted to a bracket that spaces the engine farther from the transom. I was told it was used to get more horsepower from the motor. Does someone know what this is called and if it is probably something someone would be interested in?

It's a jack plate...can't increase the HP...places engine away from the hull and adjusts the engine heighth for optimum propulsion.

jack plate or a set back plate.. 2 different things. A jack plate spaces the engine back from the transom, and is adjustable to raise the lower unit out of the water more than standard. A set back just spaces the motor back, and is not adjustable.
