OK, so, we came home from a boating visit to the unnamed sand bar north of Anclote Key, FL (as per usual) – uneventful … came home & was cleaning the boat & was gonna washout the engine (Yamaha 115-4 stroke) – and after hooking up the hose in the usual manner, NO water was coursing through the engine as per usual … clogged … manipulated the connector to no avail … undid the hose – worked fine … hmm … felt for sure we’d have to tow the boat to get it worked on. The wife had the stupid idea that something was in the hose that got flushed into the engine … so to placate her, I took the cover off the motor & unhooked the end of the flushing hose (A) where it attaches (B) to the engine (and noticed some “ewww” at the junction), then hooked it up again to the water supply. The partially amorphous blob (A) shot out of the proximal hose (A), and I grabbed something else (B) organic out of the engine end (B)! Clearly the “A” blob was the head of the lizard, and “B” was the tail.
Lesson learned? Although I’ve never encountered this before, I will always turn on the hose for a few seconds before attaching to flush the engine! AND never think that the wife is making a stupid suggestion … unless, you think that, with enough hot sauce, crow is NICE!!!
