"I am adding light, fan and recepticles to my small cabin. I had envisioned surface mounted switches to turn things on and off. I can't find the switches. Does anyone know of any? It seems all the switches want to be pannel mounted."

receptacles? so we're talking 120V AC? Home depot has surface mout boxes.

I am beginning to think about standing some plexiglas off from the bulkhead and mounting them to that or maybe a wooden frame."

Pretty healthy switch for Single Pole Devices. At least you see they are not all that available. Mounting a piece of Plexiglas is a good idea.
