lifting device won't come up...

Hey gang....I have a older bayliner explorer I am resurrecting...it have somewhat rebuilt a 125b volvo penta (b230) engine. I have a 270 stern drive. It had the orginal lifting device component in, it would lower fine but not raise. I have a newer 280 drive, I took the (rather new shape) lifting device off it and put her in my setup (it all looked and fit fine)....but....it still will only go down and not up....I used a jumper wire from the + on battery right to blue wire on (the 3 run wire that has a connector along the bulkhead)...nothing happens....I checked the switch, I have power on 2 wires....Please help.....ed

On my 280 outdrive I had the same problem except it would not go down. The two wires go into a box that has 2 relays in it. I switched the wires going into the box and when I pressed the up button the drive would go down which told me that one of my relays were bad. Not sure if yours is the same setup, but something to try if it is.

If you determine that a relay is actually the problem, you can find them at NAPA, Radio Shack, and electronics supply houses.
