Hi everyone.
Johnson model # J115FSLECS. My transom needs replacing so I'm going to have to remove the motor. I cant find a lifting eye attached to the motor but I see this on the top of the flywheel.

Do I just screw a lifting eye into the threaded "rod" sticking out of the center and lift? Does anyone have a link, or picture, to the proper lifting eye/hook?

Thanks!

BRP sells the lifting eye that you insert into the top of the crankshaft. I don't have the part number, I may remember to get it tomorrow. :) However, the other option is to put a chain through the two eyes that are molded into the heads. That will get you where you want with mounting the engine on the back of a boat.

Thanks! But I couldn't find the two eyes on this motor. I've read that some models don't have them and I'm thinking this is one of those models.
Is the crankshaft the part sticking out in the pic above?

I called Johnson/Evinrude they told me the proper lifting eye is part 342672 which is code for super expensive.

The two eyes should be moulded into the block right on top. They're in the area where the crankcase halves split.

Thanks you two, what a relief! I'm pretty sure I found them this is the pic of the one on the port side, can you confirm? Are these definately strong enough for lifting?

Yes they are. Lifted many a mtr of that type at those points. Just make sure that the chain, hooks or what ever you use doesn't break anything on the mtr. Good Luck.
