"It had better 'cause that's similar to what I've done on the info given to me by a guy who does this chopping and changing for a living.As long as the shaft is the same length and the same number of splines on the top of the drive shaft and the bolts mate up,the only real difference is going to be the gear ratio which can be dealt with by prop pitch change if necessary.
There is,I believe, a difference in the number of splines on a drive shaft with a preloaded pin and the drive shaft without a preloaded pin,shaft,no pin has eight splines,if I'm wrong someone please jump on me before Glen gets a lower unit he has to put back on ebay.
