I have a 25 hp 4 stroke 2000 m

I have a 25 hp 4 stroke 2000 mercury that when I start it gas runs out of the carb. the gas in the tank is about 18 months old but was treated with Sta-Bil. any suggestions would be appreciated.

The carb float valve is probably stuck. You should remove the carb and do a thorough rebuild job. It is best to purchase a rebuild kit first, and for many Mercs the kit will not contain a new float. That might have to be ordered separately.

Even with sta-bul 18 months is

Even with sta-bul 18 months is pushing it with the gas
It gets sticky and gucky and nasty to burn and leaves bork in everything.
P.S BORK is my own term for nasty sticky gucky don't want to touch stuff.
