502 MPI Bravo 1. Water is coming in through the bellows. My gimble is not making any noise, but my trim limit senders need replacement. I also need my skeg repaired.

I have a Bravo 1 service manual

I have been "done in" by "diy" in the past. The job looks easy enough, except for backing off the drive. I have the boat on a trailer which is on asphalt.

What is the preferred method of supporting the drive while backing it off?

Put throttle cable in NEUTRAL

Disconnect the trim rams completely. let them hang or tie them off with some rope

have outdrive level, not tucked all the way in/down.

Find a 2-3 ft long 2x6 or 2 x 8 piece(s) of wood and put under skeg.

remove all SIX nuts and washer from outdrive where it mounts to the Gimbal housing.

Pull outdrive back away from housing and get ready to grab the ujoint assembly.

If you do not have much upper body stregnth or just as a good idea have a second person to support/balance the outdrive once removed, it is a heavy sucker!!

Build a stand for the outdrive to sit in out of 2 x 8 would I have attached a terible drawing hopefully you can understand.
