Recently, I got a 2001 Mercury 9.9 Kicker. The previous owner added an aftermarket electric hydraulic trim. When I first got the motor, it leaked hydraulic fluid from the top of the hydraulic cylinder. To fix this, I measured all of the old gaskets and replaced them all with new ones.
This initially worked, but after a few days, the cylinder started to leak again. I tried swapping to an o-ring that had a larger diameter and thicker walls, but to no avail.
Above is a picture of the rod and cap taken off of the hydraulic cylinder. The arrow points to the spot where the leak is. Only when I trim the motor down does a small amount of fluid bubble out.
I have included some photos of the gasket I am using as well as the rest of the hydraulic system. If anyone can help me identify what make and model this system actually is, or can provide any suggestions as to how I can stop the leak, it would be much appreciated.
Hydraulic Cap and Problematic leaking O-ring
Hydraulic Reservoir mounted on the kicker motor: (Unsure of Make and Model)
