Leaking gear oil

I have a 1985 3.0. When my sterndrive in raised, I leak gear oil out the back. It is
not coming out the fill or drain plugs and gear oil is clean. Any ideas?

Out the back of what? and where?

The problem is the where. Maybe the back of the upper unit, located between the trim pistons. I only leak oil when the trim is raised. Looking for suggestions where to look. Someplace that would leak only when up. I would post pictures, but having trouble right now for some reason.

What you need to do is drain the outdrive

then pressure check the outdrive to no more than 15 psi and listen for leaks

no other way to figure it out.
