I have discovered that oil is

I have discovered that oil is leaking from the area where the plug wire is connected to the coil. I had some fuel related problems today and accidentially left the ignition switch on while changing the fuel filters. Is the coil shot now. It certainly was hot. I never did get the engine re-started today.

"I discussed the exploding coil with my regular mechanic. He is not aware of that being an issue. He was trained by Chrysler in the early 60's so is not inexperienced. What are the circumstances to coils exploding?

Either way, I have two new ones on the way."
 
That was a rare circumstance a

That was a rare circumstance and occured when a engine was left with the ignition on the "ON" position while the engine was not running. I agree it is not really an "issue". The point that I would not leave a coil that leaked oil on the engine.
