I made a mistake and hooked the battery up backwards and tried to trim the motor up, when nothing happened I checked the battery connections and noticed the reverse connection. I reconnected the terminals correctly and the motor starts fine, but still no TT did i fry something or is this just a coincidence? Can i just jump the wiring from the battery to the TT motor to test? Thanks for any input.

OK, thanks. So the rectifier stops the outboard from draining the battery while in use? will it hurt anything to use the motor until i get a new rectifier? I just got this boat/motor Thursday and would like to test it in the water first I guess. The motor start fine (W/ muffs), and I did get the TT to work using some Jumpers. I guess it's just something in the wiring so I am going to go through all of that now.

Came out to be good. Manually TT the motor I took the boat for a ride and realized that the motor has issues besides the TT. No top end. I'm going to take carbs off and clean them possible rebuild kit then back to TT.. I really should've taken this boat for a ride instead of hearing it run!

Boobie-
Do you know what Tilt trim relay harness I would need to order to just start fresh for this motor? Its a tiller handle johnson 1995 40 hp. Can I use just a generac two to three wire relay from ebay? THanks!
