" I bought a boat with this motor attached. It says it was manufactured in 7/97. Model is 6MSHW or 6M8. Runs very well, but I know nothing about service. Can I get a manual for this thing online? Or do I need to contact Yamah for a new one?

You could purchase

You could purchase a service manual online, maybe even at this web site. You won't need the service manual from Yamaha itself; any of the available manuals will do, such as Clymer or Seloc.
