Knock sensor

I have a 1999 Merc 350 mag engine. The engine knock alarm goes off when I hit 3000 rpm. Think it’s a bad sensor and ordered a new one. Where is it located on the engine?

usually on the RH side of the block, just above the oil pan...

FWIW, I don't believe a knock detection triggers any external alarm...
