King Cobra outdrive question

I have a king cobra king daddy outdrive. The gimbal bearing needed replace so I ordered a kit from eBay. Once the kit arrives I notice the gasket was too small. I call the place and they tell me the kit was for non-king cobras. I argued that their post didn’t provide that info in the description. Anyhow I am getting mixed info if the King cobras need a gasket or not. When I pulled the outdrive off, there was no gasket. Am I crazy in my thoughts that no gasket is needed? Also it seems the seal and gimbal bearing are the same no matter if it’s king or non-king, is this correct?

the bearings are the same... some dont bother with gaskets, but use silicone sealant. make sure the mating surfaces are very clean.
using silicone can make it a bit more difficult to remove next time, but if its adhered good to the clean mating surfaces, it will keep the water out.
