I have a 1993 5.7L Mariah alpha one sterndrive. There are 3 wires, 2 that are joined into 1,the third attaches as single. The back of the kill switch has 4 posts. the 2 opposing posts are marked I for ignition,, the other 2 opposing posts are marked M for magneto. Can anyone tell me how to connect???????? The single wire is purple, the 2 wires that join as 1 wire are purple and light purple. Thanks!!

I would say the kill switch is a normally open and normally closed switch depending on how you connect the wires.

Regardless of how it is labeled it should work in two ways.

I also will assume that you have a tether connection? A clip on lead to some sort of string and an end that connects to the kill switch????

If that is so.

A normally open switch will keep the switch open when no tether is connected (this is the way you want it wired)!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

If it is wired normally closed, This means the switch is effectively on (closed) when there is no tether connection and when it is connected it will OPEN the switch so no internal connection (open).

So the purple wires are the color for IGNITION ON, Standard color code.

So when the tether is connected to the kill switch, the power should flow thru the switch (closed) when the tether is pulled the switch should open.

SO if you have a ohm meter connect it to two connections both the I's or the M's and see with the tether connected the switch has continuity. If it does not check the other two connections. Which ever two work (closed with tether connected) connect two purple wires to them. the additional wire means nothing for this scenario as it is just a ignition interruption.
