Kickback

2.2hp mercury marine 2 stroke.
I am almost breaking my wrist with kickback from the pull start, any ideas on what is causing this and what is the fix.

just what did you do prior to this problem? you were working on water pump.

Gave in, now sending away for repair as I am having other issues such as kick back from pull cord.
