"Have a Honda 225 2002 The engine will crank fine when cold, however after running for awhile and being shutdown I lose all power to starter. I can take a scewdriver and start the engine by touching the cylinoids on the starter. I figured it must be in the key switch so purchased new key switch and replaced the complete harness assembly. Ran it today and same thing happened. I figure that since I can jump the starter it can not have anything to do with neutral safety switch. This issue has been intermittent over the past several months. Thank in advance for any help to resolve this issue."

Sounds like to starter solenoi

Sounds like to starter solenoid is sticking. It lives between where the main wire harness connects to the engine and the starter. There is usually 2 identical solenoids..one for the starter and one for the tilt motor.

Thanks for the input JIT I will contact Honda dealer concerning the starter relay. I appears only to happen once the engine has warmed up. I can let it sit for awhile and it will crank right up again.

"Update
After buying manual, replacing key switch harness, replacing main relay, it ended up being the neutral saftey switch. Replaced it today, the old one had a busted at the rubber housing. Finally!"
