I have a 25 hp evanrude 1954 vintage. How do i connect a shift cable to the shift lever of this motor ? What parts are needed ?

You need a "U" shape cable clamp which attaches to a threaded boss between the shift handle and the front portion of the engine. There's only one threaded hole there so you shouldn't be able to miss it. Clamp is available at your dealership.

Then simply attach the plastic guide at the end of the shift control cable to the shift lever with a bolt of some kind.
