Just bought a '98 2-stroke 6hp

As the title indicates, I just purchased a '98 2-stroke 6hp Mariner outboard. I'll be using it on my 9'6" inflatable dinghy.

This is my first outboard...really know nothing about them. I've operated them before, but thats it. I am a very mechanical person and want to get to know it inside and out. Very familiar and do everything on my cruisers Volvo Penta 5.7Gi/DuoProp drive...but this outboard is a different animal.

Where should I look for a service manual? I have the factory owners manual that came with it. I assume 50:1 is the correct mix for the gas/oil? I'd like to put new plugs and new gear oil in it before I take it out for the first time.

I've got a lower unit lube pump, and both the adapters for Volvo Penta and Mercruiser, but I doubt either will fit this.

Yes.

Good idea. Replace the plugs with what's in there now and buy some Merc LU lube from a dealer.

Not if you get it in a tube. Remove both plugs and pump it in the bottom until it comes out the top. And keep the LU vertical.
