"hello on a 1977 model 115 v4,

"hello on a 1977 model 115 v4, my tilt wiring has been disconnected, All I have is the 3 wires coming from the trim motor, and the switch on my controls. A wiring diagram or link to one would be great. Thanks"

There is a solenoid between the two heads.
if it missing you will need to get one.

This is ok as all 3 wire connect though the motor windings and with no ground will read 12V
if you connect the black wire to battery neg and put a live on only one wire blue will be up or green will be down the motor should run. if not it's bad.
IT IS BEST TO CONNECT A 30A FUSE IN THE LIVE WIRE
Then if the motor is blown it will only blow the fuse."

you are probably reading 12v e

you are probably reading 12v everywhere because there is no current to force a voltage drop when the system is activated....you are seeing the 12 volt feed back at you thru solenoid coil etc...if one side of a load is 12v and the other side is ground then the 12v would be dropped across that load...if the ground side of the load is floating then you will see 12v on both sides of the load because there is no current....make sure you have a fuse in wire that is hooked to the positive post to the battery before you cook something if you are going to short wires to see if the switch missing is your only problem...
