Are Johnsons made by OMC...and

Are Johnsons made by OMC...and if so can you still get parts for them...I may buy a boat witha 100hp johnson(1980) Are they reliable? I don't know much about boat engines except that omc was one to be careful about. I don't want to get into something I cannot fix. Thanks guys.

"Johnson/Evinrude are both OMC, parts are readily available and here in the southern hemisphere at least are generally thought of as bullet-proof and reliable.

Do the usual pre-purchase checks like compressions and making sure the tilt/trim and steering work OK."
