Johnson motor turns over but doesn't always start.

Johnson 60 hp 2 stroke motor turns over but doesn't always start. Once it starts runs great. Anyone know what could be wrong?

Incorrect starting procedure, ignition system, fuel system, battery, starter, wiring, and anything in between.

As martino1 stated above, also check your fuel! low octain w/ ethanol is a nightmare!
Old fuel with in 60-90 days with ethanol attracts moisture...

What exactly do you mean by "doesn't always start"? Do you mean to say that the engine is always hard starting but once it starts, it runs okay and starts the rest of the day?

We just bought this boat, engine looks clean, been sitting a while. It started right up and we took it out for a couple of hours, ran great, came back for lunch... it wouldn't start. It will turn over but it wouldn't fire up. Also oil and gas in the water. We got it home and after several try's it started up. Any ideas?

thanks everyone! someone helped at the docks. It just needed the throttle reved up and to start it in neutral... yah.. were boat newbies.
