" Last week I bought a Johnson Outboard.

The plate says:

Model: WHL14M
Serial: B3185

Somewhere else it says 15HP and plugs Champion J4JACM42K. It seems it is made in or for Belgium.

Does anyone what year this engine is from and if I can get a manual for it. On the models-pages it isn't listed.

Any advise on how to get this machine running idle properly is also very welcome. There are two knobs (one big on the left and a smaller one on the right). I have not started to clean the carburator yet, it looks like a quite complicated piece of hardware.

Should I bother to try to adjust timing of the ignition (or replace points). Is it difficult to get the big flying-wheel off?

Ok, many questions but any comments are very welcome.

That model number indicates a 15HP from 1968. You're right it isn't on the list... it should be. It is a valid model number. You can order manuals with that model number here.

Hopefully someone else can answer your other questions.
