Johnson J88MSLESA Water Jacket Torque Specs

I'm replacing the water jacket gasket on my 1990 88 SPL. I don't have the service manual yet and I'm struggling to find the torque specs and pattern to replace it correctly. Anyone know it? Thanks in advance.

1/4" bolts are 60 to 80 INCH LBS.-----Do it in steps-----40 then 60 then final at 80 INCH LBS.

Thank you so much! I believe the bolts were 5/16". Would this change anything?

Well as far as I know they have been 1/4-20NC bolts for years and years.-----Did you measure yours ?

Sorry, assumed. I used a 5/16" to remove them.

Socket size is NOT how you deterine bolt size !!

Buckeye.... We've all been there at one time or another... a learning process.

Bolts screws, whatever are measured by the width of the threaded shank times the thread per inch.

1/4x20 : 1/4" Diameter X 20 Threads per inch.

Now you're an expert just like us.
