"Just purchased a 91 checkmate w/a Johnson gt150. I checked the company code lookup for engine models, But i am still unable to determine what year the boat is, " A " is not part of the year codes.

Model # J150STLACA. Any help would be appreciated. I plan on rebuilding carbs, fuel & VRO pumps. I read somewhere that there was a VRO pump update. Is this true?

Also looking for a free online or downloadable manual.

Thank you for your time in advance, it is much appreciated.

You're right, the "AC" doesn't make sense. Is there any chance that the "A" is not an "A" but really a "C" or an "E"? That would make the engine a 1988 or a 1998 not a 1991 as the rest of the boat. If the second date letter is really a "C", that means the year is ending in a 8. But the rest of the serial number doesn't jive with what they used pre-1980. Read that number again with a good flashlight and take your glasses off.

This come up once before on another forum and it was determined it was a 1988. Goggle the serial no and you will see what I'm talking about.

"it is in fact an 88, i was told by others at another site, my part #'s do match up w/BRP's website.

The serial number is what i stated, someone said one of the a's was turned to c at some plant locations. Or something like that. In anycase a fully updated VRO has been purchased, mine had no updates whatsoever.

thanks for your help, Any suggestions on a fiberglass buff compound/polish and waxes?
Thanks"
