"Hello, I have just bought a Johnson GT 10hp, it is a 2006 motor although the guy said he bought it new at the beggining of last year? (BJ10RHLSD A), I paid peanuts for it as it has been for a swim having snapped a transom bracket and fell in shallow water, swell on beach) engine was recovered but sadly left for a while, so seized, my intention is to completely rebuild it, I have seen a few transom brackets around but mainly for 9.9/15, will these fit or is this model different, any tips on my little strip down / rebuild.

"The 9.9/10'GT' mod's were made mainly to 'cheat' the authorities in certain markets. Different solutions were used.
Sometimes a plain 15 with a restriction plate between carb and intake, sometimes the carb had to be changed to make it 15.
However mainly they all had 15 blocks."

Any special area's of concern, the guy reckons it was under water for about 10 mins, but he has just left it in his garage (pic is in his garage), I hope it is worth saving.

"Peanuts is £100 / $151, so I had to have it, I would much rather save this engine than break it up, the guy told me he only bought it begining of last year so cant have had much use, could a 2006 engine have been on shelf that long? anyway it will be arriving this afternoon so I could be smiling or crying, one or other, still after some tips on areas of concern. Morten, Am I right in the assumtion that a 92+ 15 powerhead will bolt straight on, is 9.9/15 same block? Thanks Joe I will look, problem is the little pond between us, but I'll have a look.

"93 and up will fit, just checked the BRP site.
But be aware they made some 'funny' changes in the power heads 9.9/15 in the ports. Anyone will bolt up, but power might be different and not too easy to change.
Even the older PH will bolt on, but you will get in problems with starter etc. The older ones (before 93) had the manual starter on the side, the 'newer' one increased cc and starter on top."

"Got it, it is mint, transom clamp is snapped, a couple of older transom clamps available but apparently wont fit this, what is it made of, is it cast aluminium, anyone welded these before, will look at engine on weekend, it is seized, I have sprayed plenty of realease agent into cylinders, worth a shot, any of you guy's across the pond know of any transom clamps that might suit me? How about you Joe.

"Not my little 10hp, I dont think so! This is a regular Gt10 out of the box, I checked BRP website, it will be a real shame to bust it up.

"Just stripping engine, bores look ok(at moment), bottom end looks a bit mucky, I am trying to split crank case without damaging anything, how does the stator plate come off, do you have to split crank case (which is tight on dowel)) or does the plate have to come off seprately?
