Johnson FD-19 fuel pump position

Beginning to 'dig in' to my newly acquired Johnson 18 hp FD-19 to make necessary repairs and upgrades and found that the fuel pump on my engine is mounted in the lower bypass position. In going over "LeRoy's Ramblings" in the picture of the fuel pump his is mounted in the upper bypass location? Is it my choice which position to use when I remount the fuel pump?

Pressure pulses are the same.-----Makes no difference where you mount it.

Johnson actually used both positions at various times. On some motors, the upper position is necessary because the lower shroud prevents access to the lower position. In other words, it's all about access and/or clearance.

I couldn't see why it should matter. I believe I'll reinstall it in the upper position for the easier access. Thanks.
