Idles good in gear, throttle up a little and engine dies. Hammer down throttle and she starts to go on plane, then dies.
Timer base resistance values are 90 instead of 40 ohms.
Does it sound like this is the route of the problem?
New carb kits installed, link and synk, good comp and spark, fuel system ok.
Thanks for any input

I seem to remember something similar from a friend here in Sweden.

For him it was the ignition advancer (correct name?) arm that had got stuck. He cleaned it and oiled it = engine started to behave normally again.

Worth a try and the cost is nil.

Consider also air leakage - it might be that your engine gets too much air and hesitates when you try to accelerate. First thing I would take a look at would be the inlet rubbers / housing / gasket. You can try them with starter aerosol (is that the correct name for it?) to see if the engines revs up when you take one rubber at a time (while the engine is idling of course). If it does you have found the place that leaks in air.

Good luck.

Timer base moves free, fuel pump is good. The resistance values on the timer are not what they should be however. Im going to replace timer base, just wondering if yall know whether or not a timer with 90 instead of 40 ohms would cause these symptoms. Thank you all for your time

I had a similar problem after the repairs to my 81v4. Idled like a champ dies when you put the throttle down. In my case it was the throttle liknkage wasn't setup correctly. Spark was fully advanced before the bottom part of the assembly moved meaning more then enough spark advance but no fuel. To fix i had a friend at the motor when opening the throttle on tha water who adjusted the throttle cable so that the bottom of the throttle assembly moved correctly. it was only a matter of a few small turns and BOOM it shoots out of the hole. Not saying this is your problem, but if he didn't observe the full spark advance with no throttle i would still be buyng spares......
