just received a Johnson cd-11, i'm trying to see if i can get it running. i'v watched a fiew youtube vids and the throttle seems to be activated by turning the handle an the arm. mine won't turn. after taking apart and cleaning it up it looks like there are notches inside handle that does'nt allow it to turn. help!!

Sorry , but you need to look at this closely.----The notches on the end of the handle fit into a friction block.----Remove that block and grease it up on the tapered surface.

Are you sure the shaft that runs through the tiller arm isn't seized? Very common, take it all apart and clean the corrosion out of it.

thanks for the tips you guys, it ended up the friction block was stuck from sitting . i had to twist very hard thought it was going to break something but since you said it was supposed to be removable i kept twisting until it broke free. cleaned it all up, added grease and "wallah".

this is my first time working on a older outboard like this ,so your help is much appreciated.

i want to get it running for now and later restore it.

i have more questions, but i need to add a video clip to explain, hopefully tomorrow. if you are interested in helping please stay tuned.

again thank you,thank you, Outboardgringo
