Hi well iam new to this,my story goes like this.
ive got a newish johnson 2004 50hp 2 stroke motor
i started it up 2 days ago and warm it up, then put it in to gear reved it up then went to drop it back to nuteral and the thottel suck, i then removed the key and it still didnt stop,the only thing left was to pull out the fuel hose and after 30 seconds it stopped.can some one out there help me.
 
you did not have a load on the motor when you put it in gear and reved it up, the motor became a ran away motor (leaned out), the only way to kill the motor after that, is to put as much gas to her as you can, choke and throttle (wide open) then pull the throttle back and keep putting the choke to her.she will die. or if the air silencer is off, put your hands over the carb, that will kill it.

you now need to compression checks on the cyls to make sure you did not destroy the motor.

Thank god motor is not damaged,still dont know where to look.
throttel cable is fine,butterflies not sticking in carbs.
i would like to find the problem before having to spend lots of money
 
Is it an ETech?

You need to do a trip to your dealer to find the cause.

OR

Disconnect the battery from it for a day so the computer can reset.

Try again.

When you said 'throttle suck', I guess you mean throttle handle on remote got 'stuck.
The only way it may get 'stuck' is normally if you have managed to put it in gear without having the fast idle/warm-up lever completely down and/or the throttle cable adjusted too tight.
When you said 'removed the key' did you first turn to 'OFF" before removing?
Reason I ask is that I have several times with the 'new' keys been able just to pull out the key while engine still running WITHOUT first turning off. This only on the system with the safety clip on the ign switch.

ive removed the key, by first turning the key to the off postion,the throttle was in gear.the fastidle/warm-up lever was fully down,the throttle lever did not get stuck moving it back to nuteral so why did the engine carrie on running.and not turn its self "off"
 
Your explanations are a bit confusing, but anyway.
Go through all cable connections/contacts and check that they are fully pushed together.
The stop function works by grounding the power-pack black/yellow cable.
Take the black/yellow cable out of the power pack contact, start the engine.
Ground the black/yellow and engine should stop.
If engine keeps on running, power-pack is defective and must be changed.
If engine stops, contact problem in harness or ign switch.
