Hi all
I just bought a secon

Hi all
I just bought a second hand 9.9hp for my dory.
It runs fine for a 1980? (model J10ALCSE).
But where should the cooling water exit from?
I seem to have a lot of it dropping out of the
bottom steering joint on the leg. is this ok?
or is the cooling water not circulating properly.
Any help would be appreciated.

On the outsid

" Hey Brian....
On the outside of the cowling on the starboard{right} side you should see a little plastic nipple sticking out...this where the water indicator is located....follow that back up to your motor and you will see where it comes out of the engine...It a rubber hose that you will be looking for...With the water coming out where it is lets you know that it is off, but the water is circulating thru the motor.... "

I'll have a look for it. But... is it normal for water to be spilling out of the leg at the bottom steering joint?

" Hey Again Brian....Not exactly sure where you mean, but, where the lower unit bolts on, no gaskets are used so water can and will come out down there, and its not a problem. If you can put your fingers on the head while its running or shortly after, and its not to hot to touch, then you are ok as far as circulation goes..The head is the next to lasdt thing that gets cooling water...TommyG "
