Johnson 93 to 97

My old eng was a 97, 175 Evinrude. My boat still has all the cables and wires from my old 97 Evinrude hanging out the back of the boat. I just bought a 93, 150 Johnson ocean runner. My questions are. Should the control calbes from my old eng. hook up to the new (1993) eng. ? The plugs comming from my boat are three rectangler plugs but the one plug in the 93 eng. is a big orangeish red round one. Is their a connecter plug/wire that will connect these two? Is there something to use to clean the steering rod and then the type of grease you ust to clean and lube the steering rod? Thank you for any help. This is my first post.

there is an adapter harness to go from the new style harness to the old style harness. I think the part number is 176346, but you need to check it to make sure it's right.
