need help. i took of lower leg to change impeller .but now i cant get shift linkage to line up should linkage be in forward ,neutral or rev.tried all positions still wont go on .2 bolts that hold on linkage ,i loosen bott one, right or wrong thanks

The only thing that needs / must to be done is to line up both screws in the coupler with notches in the rods.---------------People often mess this up and strip the threads on the screws.------------------Pull the lower rod all the way up. --------------Forward / nuetral / reverse does not matter , just put the lever so it gives you room to work

thanks i tried pulling rod up .meaning reverse when i line up and tighten it,shift lever wouldn,t go in f.n.or rev

The screw(s) in the connector must be removed, not only loosened. The upper and lower shift rod will go almost end-to-end in the connector.

i pull rod all the way up but to get coupler to meet rod. i have to move shift lever on top to forward pos for it to meet if i bolt it together this way it willonly shift in one pos .hope this makes sense
