I am seeking help with identifying why my Johnson Sail Master 8 HP has no spark. She was running fine, we anchored for a few hours and then she wouldn't start.
I have conducted the following tests:
- Spark plug tester on both plugs confirmed no spark
- Kill switch - I disconnected the Kill Switch ground that attaches to the Coil Pack bolt and still no spark. Using an Ohm meter I connected the red to the Kill switch wire that is in the harness connection and the black to the ground wire. With the lanyard safety switch engaged I get no continuity and with the lanyard safety switch removed I get a continuity reading.
- I removed and tested the Coil Pack - Black to ground and red to the small terminal I get a .01 Ohm reading, Black to the spark plug terminal and red to the small terminal I get a 301 reading - This coil pack is one unit for both plugs and I got the same coil reading from both sides. The coil pack does have cracks in the rubber back but the readings appear to be fine.
- I am trying to determine how to test the Power Pack but I have not been able to find instructions on line on how to do this.
Any help and advice will be greatly appreciated.
