"I have a 96 Johnson 88 that was running fine last year, properly stored over the winter. This spring took it out and it would stall when the throttle was set to idle. Rebuilt the carb (which looked clean before rebuild). Same problem. Found the transfer cover gaskets were leaking so I replaced them. Now it idles normally but ONLY when the throttle is positioned about 1/2 open. I tried setting the idle screw but even with it fully extended it is not enough (RPMs drop and engine dies). It seems to be a air issue but there are no obstructions that I can think of and I don't think there is an air/fuel mixture adjustment. Any ideas are deeply appreciated."
