I have a 1992 Johnson 70 hp that i rebuilt the carbs on a couple of months ago. It used to be pump up the bulb and start, Now it won't start when i pump up the bulb (Flooded) i drain the carbs by taking off the bowl drains, then it starts right up. My question is why is it flooding the carbs when i pump up the bulb first time?

No, not at all.-----------------Why do you feel you have to pump it up that hard ???.-------------It just needs to be firm to indicate that the carburetor bowls are full. Then when you push in the key while cranking ( electric primer activated ) the motor should fire right up.---------------------------------Is the red primer lever in the right position or was it left in the manual position ???

I think it's in the right position, it points down to the body of the primer body. I don't think i pump it too hard, just till it's firm. The fuel pump on this engine is a converted vro pump, would that matter?

What do you mean by a " converted VRO pump ".-------------The VRO unit can be used as a " fuel only pump " and there is no difference in pressure supplied to the carburetors.
